Mahale Mountain

Camping Safaris
The better way to experience the Afican Bush is though Camping Safaris. After the excitement of game viewing all day, you return to your campsite where another adventure begins. It may be gazelles making their way to a favorite watering hole or curious baboons wanting to inspect your tent while all around you the sky is emblazoned with the brilliant colors that make East African sunsets famous. As night falls, the heavens come alive with millions of stars that seem so close, you could almost pluck them from the skies. While you drift off to sleep, you will be able to hear lions roar and an impala calling for a mate as strange shadows fall across the canvas of your tent.
 The most popular safari destination in Tanzania is the Northern Safari Circuit includes the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, and the National Parks of Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Arusha and Mt. Kilimanjaro. In all of Africa, nowhere else provides the sheer numbers and varieties of game or the ease with which they can be viewed. Each park has its own distinctive habitats and their proximity to each other allows for a satisfying safari experience in a relatively short period of time.
Camping safari can range from a budget tour where you can bring your own tent and help with the cooking to the luxurious with a private campsite, walk-in canvas tents with cots, uniformed waiters and portable shower and toilet facilities. However, most visitors utilize a full service camping safari where regular park campsites and facilities are used and a driver/guide and cook are responsible for all camp chores. This circuit is also dotted with a variety of accommodation. High class accommodation range from the famous africa lodges e.g. Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, Serena Lodges, Sopa Lodges and private camps e.g. Grumeti River Camp and Kleins Camp.
There are also public and private campsites available with basic facilities such as hot water and good clean toilets.

Southern Circuit
Selous Game Reserve is the largest protected area in Tanzania (bigger that Switzerland).
This Circuit has a huge national parks and are the major attractions. In these parks, you will get the feeling of discovery as you can go through the whole day game drive without meeting any other tourists.
There are thousands of wild animals in these areas, including huge herds of wild elephants. Accommodation in these parks are mostly in tented lodges and for those who like camping out in the wild, there are special campsites available where you can camp alone and bring your own supplies.
Lodges in the Selous are positioned in only 20% of the reserve so as to minimize human intervention. The special campsites are well positioned e.g Next to the Great Ruaha river, where crocodiles are found. Boat game viewing and walking safaris while viewing the large herds of migrating elephants is very popular.
The Selous is the second largest game reserve in the world, 4 times the size of Serengeti . One third of the all the remaining wild dogs in the world and estimated 64,000 roaming elephants.

Western Circuit
Western Circuit lying in the Great Rift Valley and touching the inland of the Lake Tanganyika and Lake Victoria. The National parks in this circuit offers the safe opportunities to view chimpanzees in the wild today.
The habitats of these areas are a merger between Western Africa and East Africa; therefore the cultures, rainfall and flora are unique to this small area of Africa.
